Position: SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

 

Location: Physiotherapy Matters, Arden House, Regent Centre, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 3LU and 50mile radius of this location

 

Salary: Dependent on experience

 

Hours: 24-38hrs (full or part-time – negotiable but flexible to meet the needs of the business)

Based across 3 clinics in Gosforth, Darras Hall and Newcastle City Centre, the business also delivers on and off-site Occupational Health services to companies, as well as on-site MSK services at GP practices for the NHS.

 

Job Summary:

To carry out physiotherapy assessment and treatment in one or more of the following sectors of our business:

• Private Clinics
• Occupational Health Physiotherapy Services
• Older People Physiotherapy
• NHS services

NB: (we will discuss with the successful applicant which sector (s) interests them the most)

Depending on the interests of the applicant, your role may also include the provision of class based exercise sessions.
 
Duties of Post:

Clinical / Professional (approximately 90% time):

• Ensure appropriate consents to treat and to report are obtained
• Carry out assessments of patients in line with CSP core standards of practice
• Carry out workplace assessments and on the job training in prevention and management strategies
• Use outcome measures to demonstrate treatment effect
• Provide evidence-based treatment and management of patients to achieve rapid return to function and work
• Maintain records in line with CSP core standards and Physiotherapy Matters standards
• Deliver clinical training and support colleagues in assessment, treatment and management of patients
• Participate in clinical audit
• Log data and audit outcomes of programmes
• Maintain evidence of continual professional development
• Keep up to date with evidence-based practice/guidelines and assist in development of the programme in line with available evidence
• Design and implement treatment regimes for patients in accordance with; quality standards as directed by PML, and professional codes of conduct as directed by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
• Assess patients, analyse the findings to formulate a diagnosis, and develop a treatment programme based upon best available evidence, assuming the highest standards of patient care.
• Ensure accurate recording of the data to meet the standards of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and fulfil legal requirements.
• Be responsible for the implementation of high standards of clinical skills, in arrears of assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal problems.
• To use theoretical and practical knowledge to refer on to other departments, consultant /GP colleagues as necessary, based on investigation results and clinical assessment.
• To work as an autonomous practitioner, to be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of professional activities.
• To manage telephone triage referrals from receipt to referring to external providers, receiving reports and collecting feedback.
• To run and ensure a quality provision of classes on a variety of topics for patients of PML.
 
Communication:

• Communicate with GPs and clients in line with Physiotherapy Matters procedures.
• Write reports to line managers and HR professionals relating to work capability and detail return to work plans effectively.
 
Business Development (approximately 10% time):

• Give talks / demonstrations on the work of the physiotherapy team to line managers, HR and/or Health and Safety officers within the workplace on the benefits of Physiotherapy.
• To identify appropriate audits, outcome measures and service impact measures which accurately evaluate patients’ response and service development needs.
• Develop new ideas for the future of the service and new programmes to improve patient care.
• To promote PML to all appropriate avenues with an ‘out-of-box’ approach.
• To assess gaps in the market where PML can offer a new service or promote existing services or products.
• To assess gaps in the market that PML can provide class services.
 
Health and Safety:

• To ensure that all PML polices and legal requirements relating to Health and Safety are followed.
• To manage clinical risk within own caseload at all times and ensure clinical risk is effectively managed across the company.

• To respect confidentiality of all matters that they may learn relating to employment, other members of staff and general public.

Hours: 38 hours between 8am – 8pm (Negotiable) Monday to Saturday

Purpose of the role: The role will be to work alongside the Business Manager, Clinical Manager, and Team Leads to ensure a genuinely exceptional client experience across all areas of the business, ensuring their services are managed within the framework of robust clinical governance, professional standards and the Healthcare Standards Act 2000.

To provide leadership for continuous development of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 (2015), Information Governance IGSoC, CQC and SEQOHS. This will include managing staff training and audits of systems to ensure all standards and are being met and use the outcomes to instigate continual improvement.

To assist with driving the business forward through assisting with tenders, website updates, social media and newsletters, to raise the company profile as well as developing and driving forward the 4 core areas of business – Occupational Health, MSK NHS services, Private MSK Clinics and Older People Physiotherapy services.

 
Duties include:
 
Business Administration Management Responsibilities
• Providing leadership and developing training to the team on the quality standards associated with the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Management of the QMS in line with ISO 9001 (2015), IGSoC, SEQOHS and CQC
• Manage health and safety requirements
• Organise and/or conduct staff training relating to Health and Safety requirements
• Support the Senior management team and team leaders with management of complaints, significant events, queries and feedback
• Support the team leaders with data collection, analysis and formulating management reports for each area of the business
• Continuously review ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency of the business functions
• Assist with tender completion and presentations for contracts
• Support with the admin team lead in ensuring suppliers and providers are meeting quality requirements
 
Marketing
• Maintain the website including all updates, regular blogs, and additions to assist with SEO
• Manage the business customers and individual customer e-newsletter and databases
• Manage all social media for the business
• Effectively manage the customer satisfaction collection tool and subsequent results analysis in order to present monthly statistics and graphs of both clinical and experience outcomes to continuously improve customer satisfaction
• Assist with none clinical aspect of tender completion and presentations for contracts
• Communicating with marketing providers to ensure optimum delivery
 
Quality Management
• Ensure all services are managed within the framework of robust clinical governance, information governance and professional standards
• Develop and manage robust Information Governance framework to incorporate statutory requirements in line with GDPR changes
• Continuously maintain and develop quality management accreditations, including but not limited to ISO 9001, NHS IG Toolkit, Better Health at Work Award, SEQOHS, and CQC.
• Maintain and submit the latest version of the NHS IG toolkit
• Responsibility of managing ISO 9001 external audits
• Carry out and manage all internal non-clinical audits.
• Support Team Leads to ensure process in each are of the business meet all Quality Standards
• Setup and maintain document and procedural controls
• Continuously review and update company policies and procedures, creating new ones where required
• Organise and conduct staff training relating to Information Governance and ISO9001 quality requirements

Reception duties
• Manage and oversee the day to day running of the clinics ensuring exceptional client experience
• Open and closing / locking up of the clinic, including the Health and Exercise Matters studio
• Provide excellent customer service to clients
• Answering calls in a polite and professional manner
• Retrieving voicemail messages
• Taking card, cheque and cash payments and reconciling against client accounts
• Communicating with referrer / intermediary companies in regards to each referral received
• Emailing reports securely
• Protecting client data according to ICO / GDPR requirements
• Ensure optimum usage of clinical time by monitoring appointment availability for each therapist
• Booking of both onsite and offsite clinic appointments
• Booking of classes
• Proof reading reports
• Dealing with customer enquiries regarding appointment times, directions and costs
• Maintaining a clean and tidy clinic
• Ensure reports are sent on the same working day at the appointment through directing clinical staff when a report is required
• Collecting patient consent, outcome and experience measures
• Assist with receiving reviews for each clinics – Facebook, Google or testimonials
 
Admin Duties
• Recording referral numbers and clinic activity
• Assisting admin team leader in managing stock control from monitoring stock levels, ordering and monitor usage
• Assisting admin team leader in maintaining equipment, from arranging servicing, repairs and renewals
• Assisting admin team leader in receiving and reporting IT issues to IT provider
• Assisting admin team leader in receiving and reporting facility issues to management company
• Accurate and timely billing and invoicing
• Banking
• Ensure KPIs for each referrer / intermediary company are being met
• Maintaining intermediary procedure guides
